The ZAX design project defines a new era for amplifiers introducing new concepts aimed at creating an amplifier capable of driving any load in any input signal condition! The ZAX project is based on a high-voltage (120 Volt DC) and high current (+/- 20A) circuit. To achieve this ambitious goal our engineers have requested custom-made components:
Special high-current and high-voltage transistors capable of handling low amplitude signals.
Special output devices with transistors that support high currents and are equipped with integrated temperature compensation.
Special high-energy high-energy and low flow loss AC power transformer.
The result is the ZAX design project! The ZAX produces an extraordinary sound quality: the FET stadium offers a gentle and fluid sound scene while the high-energy power transistors guarantee excellent performance for the detailed high frequencies and well-defined authoritative bass.
The electronic circuit is based exclusively on discrete components transistors and FETs (input device) without the use of integrated circuits in the signal path! (The ICs can’t deliver high current!)
The amplifier has 5 high-level line inputs an output for the speaker system and an output for tape recording.
The ZAX-70 amp replaces the ZAX-60. The new integrated amplifier offers an increased power to 70 W per channel on 8 ohms and a frame design in harmony with other models in the range (CDP-603 and Digitube bed). The ZAX-70 represents the evolution of the ZAX-60 for the “R” series of transistor electronics featuring a frame with rounded sides. The shape is not only an aesthetic evolution but also ensures greater rigidity of the frame better mechanical behavior of the cabinet and better vibration control.
The ZAX-70 is designed with a transistor-only circuit without the use of integrated circuits in the signal path. Bipolar transistors were selected for their high current capacity reaching a peak intensity of 12 A! On the path of the signal there is only one capacitor not electrolytic but to high quality films. There are no limitations on the current capacity of the output stage which can therefore drive diffusers with low load impedance.
The volume control is performed via an ALPS potentiometer of the Blue Velvet series the position of the control is indicated by a blue LED specially made for its antistatic qualities. A passive volume-controlled output allows you to connect an active subwoofer or a headphone amplifier.
Similar to the design of the frame particular attention has been paid to the elimination and control of every vibration of the power transformer.
An aluminum remote control is provided to manage the volume of the amplifier.
