This year’s Vienna High End Audio Show marked a momentous global debut for Danish high-end loudspeaker brand PEAK Consult, ushering in a new era for the company. The unveiling of the new sub-flagship SunFyre was not merely the launch of a new product; it signified the first time the brand—after a period of restructuring and technological renewal—has made a complete statement to the world with its “new-generation design DNA.”

SunFyre: The Beginning of a New Dynasty
Positioned between the El-Diablo and the flagship Dragon Legacy, the SunFyre represents, according to the manufacturer, not just a new loudspeaker but a generational leap in both technology and sonic performance.

Technically, the SunFyre is a tall, three-way D’Appolito (MTM) symmetrical floor-standing loudspeaker, effectively a scaled-down version of the flagship Dragon Legacy, designed specifically for modern living spaces. Its most significant technical breakthrough lies in the fully in-house development of its drive units. PEAK’s design team collaborated closely with Danish driver specialist Audio Technology, developing the SunFyre’s dedicated woofer and midrange units from scratch. This process was not a simple matter of “selecting” off-the-shelf products; rather, everything—from cone shape, surround, spider, magnet assembly, to the position of the voice coil in the magnetic gap—was completely redesigned. The result is a set of electrical parameters and physical characteristics perfectly matched to the new cabinet volume and acoustic system. The tweeter inherits the acclaimed Scan-Speak custom unit from the Dragon Legacy.

The SunFyre’s cabinet structure also follows the Dragon Legacy’s design, internally partitioned into five separate chambers. The walls use a multi-layer constrained-layer damping structure, consisting of high-density HDF and sound-absorbing materials alternately stacked, all handcrafted using traditional Danish high-end furniture techniques. The crossover is another area of极致 refinement; after hundreds of hours of critical listening and component comparisons, the finalized crossover circuit is mounted on three separate circuit boards, housed in a dedicated compartment within the loudspeaker’s base, and mechanically damped with dry sand.

The SunFyre’s world premiere dynamic demonstration took place in ACV’s Room 0.49. PEAK Consult did not stand alone but formed a complete reference-grade system—from source to amplification—with Swiss top-tier audio brand CH Precision.

CH Precision provided a full line of flagship reference components for this system: the D10 Reference transport, C10 Reference DAC, T10 Time Reference 10MHz master clock, L10 Reference preamplifier, and M10 Reference stereo power amplifier. Digital playback was handled by an Innuos Nazaré server and Innuos Flow reclocker for front-end source duties. All CH Precision digital and analog components were placed on MusicWorks AcouPlex ReFract isolation and anti-vibration racks, specially optimized for the dimensions and weight of CH Precision equipment. Various AcouPlex anti-vibration and isolation products were also used throughout the room for fine-tuning the complete system.

Additionally, while not dynamically demonstrated (as the SunFyre was the star of the show), the flagship PEAK Dragon Legacy was displayed statically, serving as the ultimate symbol of PEAK’s technological prowess and a reference point for the SunFyre’s design roots.

Dragon Legacy is the most outstanding electroacoustic transducer system ever created by the PEAK team. The speaker features a symmetric five-driver layout: a 28-centimeter woofer is installed at each of the top and bottom ends, a Scan Speak tweeter sits in the center, and a mid-range driver is placed between the tweeter and each woofer, forming a fully symmetric dumbbell-style driver configuration. Each Dragon Legacy loudspeaker weighs over 225 kilograms. Its enclosure walls are made of four layers of rigid high-damping materials, with a local total thickness of 50 millimeters, and the joints of the five internal segmented chambers reach a total thickness of 85 millimeters. It stands at the pinnacle of high-end loudspeakers in terms of weight and structural specifications.

Whether the statically displayed Dragon Legacy or the dynamically demonstrated new SunFyre, PEAK’s message at the Vienna show remained consistent: truthfulness, fidelity, and unpretentiousness. As the brand’s long-standing design philosophy states, they never adopt unconventional solutions for the sake of being different, nor do they flaunt patented technologies. Instead, they stand on the most fundamental and well-understood principles of loudspeaker construction, thinking more deeply about what designs truly work and what does not, ultimately arriving at a classic loudspeaker. Combined with the craftsmanship of Danish high-end furniture, the result is the ultimate fusion of Scandinavian minimalist aesthetics and acoustic engineering.
