A discerning customer recently purchased a PEAK Sonora two-way floorstanding speaker, Chord Company’s flagship ChordMusic and Jumper speaker cables, the second-highest-end SarumT RCA signal cables, and a PhonoARAY turntable grounding system from our Wan Chai showroom. The devices were delivered to Laguna City last Saturday for installation and tuning.

The customer was originally using Ensemble Reference bookshelf speakers. In a side-by-side comparison, the PEAK Sonora emerged as the clear winner. Listening to the “Ling Ge” (a type of Chinese music) speakers, the sound was detailed, vocals were focused, instrument placement was accurate and clear, and sound separation was excellent. Listening to Harry Belafonte’s live performance, the sound was vast and completely uncompressed, with a rich musical atmosphere. Listening to the bass extension of the Black Church’s test organ, even in a relatively small room, the low-frequency performance was impressive. The vocal texture of the choir was easily discernible, and even at maximum sound pressure level, there was no distortion; the control was outstanding. The customer was ultimately satisfied with the purchase.
