Classic Design, Enhanced Sound Quality|Appreciating the Rogers LS5/9 SE 75th Anniversary Edition Loudspeaker
To commemorate its 75th anniversary, Rogers has launched the LS5/9 SE Limited Edition loudspeaker. As an upgraded reissue of the classic BBC monitor model, it combines collectible value with exceptional sound quality, embodying the pinnacle of the brand’s 75 years of technical expertise. This speaker faithfully adheres to the rigorous BBC monitoring standards, utilizing the Audax 34mm phase-corrected tweeter and the Rogers 210mm polypropylene cone mid-woofer. The crossover components have been optimized, resulting in lower distortion and more natural frequency transition. The SE version features an upgraded Panzaholz high-density composite wooden baffle, paired with German WBT pure copper gold-plated binding posts, supporting bi-wiring and bi-amping, offering enhanced acoustic and damping performance.
In its review, the domestic audio magazine “Front Viewing Audio & Video” described the Rogers LS5/9 SE 75th Anniversary Edition loudspeaker’s sound quality as having a true, warm, and engaging midrange, with excellent reproduction of vocal and instrumental details. The highs are naturally smooth with clear imaging; although the frequency response extends to 16kHz, it provides a恰到好处 (just right) level of brightness. The bass reaches down to 50Hz, offering quality over quantity with agile dynamics, and no distortion during high dynamic passages. Its 87dB sensitivity is amplifier-friendly, with higher-end pairings unlocking further potential. The front-ported design also makes placement more convenient.
The speaker features a solid wood cabinet with teak veneer, complemented by a gold-plated badge and a certificate of authenticity. Globally limited to just 75 pairs, each unit comes with an independent serial number and a hand-signed certificate, making it a prized item for both collectors and audiophiles seeking superb sound quality.
