British hi-fi manufacturer Exposure Electronics has unveiled a new DAC designed for music lovers who crave more than just good sound.<\/p>\n
Built for clarity, dynamics and long-term reliability, the new model reflects Exposure\u2019s ongoing mission to fuse digital precision with analogue musicality \u2014 and it follows hot on the heels of the recently released Exposure 5510 flagship integrated amplifier, which StereoNET reported on last month.<\/p>\n
In a world increasingly dominated by streaming and digital playback, many enthusiasts regard a dedicated DAC as the key to unlocking true high-fidelity sound. Exposure says its latest DAC is engineered to extract greater clarity, dynamics, and musicality from digital sources than the built-in converters found in most components.<\/p>\n
It can also serve as both a DAC and a digital preamplifier, providing owners with the flexibility to configure their systems as desired. Exposure describes the DAC \u201cas combining digital precision with analogue soul\u201d.<\/p>\n
Supporting high-resolution PCM and DSD formats, it promises to unlock every nuance in the music, from the softest subtleties to the boldest crescendos. Connectivity is generous: seven S\/PDIF inputs handle sample rates from 44.1kHz up to 192kHz PCM, while USB supports up to 768kHz\/32-bit PCM and DSD256. Analogue outputs are available in both RCA and balanced XLR formats, with fixed or variable levels depending on the system configuration.<\/p>\n
Thanks to a 99-step digital volume control, the DAC can connect directly to a power amplifier, effectively functioning as a minimalist digital pre-amp. Listeners can select variable output for integrated volume management or fixed output for use with a traditional pre-amplifier. A custom toroidal transformer with hum shielding, paired with a low-noise power supply, ensures an exceptionally silent noise floor \u2014 so all that remains is the music itself.<\/p>\n
The DAC\u2019s all-aluminium casework is designed not only for visual elegance but also to suppress resonance and shield against electromagnetic interference. Ease of use is another highlight: a crisp white OLED display, adjustable brightness, intuitive remote control, and customisable start-up volume all contribute to a polished everyday experience.<\/p>\n
On the performance front, Exposure quotes a total harmonic distortion of below 0.0025% at 2.1V RMS, a frequency response of 20Hz\u201320kHz with a \u00b10.2dB variation, and a signal-to-noise ratio of greater than 115dB \u2014 numbers that speak to its refinement.<\/p>\n
The new DAC is now available in black or titanium finishes.<\/p>\n
