AnalogueWorks - Zero analogue turntable, not simply entry level

The analogue turntable was a popular playback component in the early years. The younger people having never come across a fully analogue audio system and got used to digital sound will find analogue sound fresh, pure and non-fatiguing on first hearing. They begin to love the music originated from spinning.

Latecomers to vinyl tend to choose simple and inexpensive products. Entry level analogue turntables of differing sound quality flourish in the market. Therefore, finding a better sounding product is not easy. Europe has a long developed music culture, European makes of audio equipment usually have better reputation. Recently Richcoln Company Ltd has introduced AnalogueWorks, a brand of turntables from England most suitable for newcomers and advanced users. The TurntableZero is an entry level model. Its plinth is made of Finnish birch, because wood grown in the higher latitude region has high density and are resistant to vibrations. The feet of the Zero are made of acetal polymer for further damping and extremely good shock isolation. The platter is made of machined 6082 T6 solid aluminium featuring low resonance, unlike a low cost production. A stainless steel shaft well matches a precision single-point bearing with tin brass housing. An external Premotec AC motor fed from a Black Eye power supply drives the platter, providing a good, stable operating platform. The unit delivered to "Audiotechnique" Journal for evaluation was fitted with a Jelco SA-250 pivoted tonearm and a Soundsmith "Otello' moving iron cartridge as a suitable package for elementary users.

Gary's comprehensive test report is a good guide for vinyl beginners.
